Dear Cobirders,
My Father-in-Law and I headed out to McIntosh Lake to push the 400
ABA Bird barrier for the year with the White-winged Scoter. We were
able to relocate one White-winged Scoter and had one flyover Thayer's
Gull. Other species included Common Merganser, Common Goldeneye and
Hooded Merganser. A quick stop by Boulder Reservoir yielded a number
of Cackling Geese and a wading male Northern Harrier but little else.
On the way to Boulder Reservoir, we spotted the soon-to-be-famous pale
Harlan's Hawk that Winters near Pella Crossing, sitting on it's usual
telephone pole.

Cheers,
Walter Szeliga
