Fun times on Nunn CBC--also, overheard we may have had a record turnout! It started out with Nick Komar suggesting some early morning owling (4AM wakeup)--first for me (and the Nunn CBC as far as I know)! We poked around Nunn circle and managed 4 Long-eared Owls, Great Horned Owl and two other species that "may" have been owls--or some mechanical noise-haha!
Between owling and my section: Loggerhead Shrike -1 (Nick picked up this goodie while exiting after owling) European Starling - 48 Northern Shrike - 2 Long-eared Owl - 4 Prairie Falcon - 1 Bald Eagle - 1 Horned Lark - 302 Lapland Longspur - 19 American Tree Sparrow - 2 Unknown Sparrow - 1 (Song maybe) Golden Eagle - 8 Rough-legged Hawk - 2 (watched one "kite" lower and lower; pounce on prey; jump on fence post with meal) Northern Harrier - 1 Great Horned Owl - 1 Canada Goose - 21 American Kestrel - 2 Thanks Gary Lefko, Nunn/CO http://ColoradoBirder.ning.com/ -- Home of the "Nunn Guy" -- Colorado Field Ornithologists: http://www.cfo-link.org/ Colorado County Birding: http://www.coloradocountybirding.com/ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
