COBirders,
At 9:30 A.M., Sunday, an immature Snowy Owl was seen by Snook Cipoletti along
Hwy 24 just east of its intersection with Elbert Road in northeastern El Paso
County (between Falcon and Peyton). This is second hand information but the
bird was reported from a utility pole and it was looked for in the afternoon by
a few people who drove many of the area roads without positive results. There
are many ranchlands without road access in this part of the county and there is
reported to be snow on the ground. A Snowy Owl invasion has occured in the
Dakotas this fall and Minot, ND, just had 17 inches of new snow and had to
postpone today's CBC, so maybe some of those birds are being pushed farther
south. Good luck to anyone who drives out to look for this bird.
