Sunday afternoon Walden Ponds. Just south of Duck Pond, a pair, on the
ground at the top of the bank and in bushes per map. http://tiny.cc/stehh.
Also Cinnamon Teal nearby at Sawhill Ponds per same map. A couple of
Great Blue Herons have started a flimsy nest west of Ricky Weiser
Pond, per same map. A Great Horned Owl flew over. Yesterday a juvenile
Bald Eagle, lots of waterfowl including a few Greater Scaup.

Re the thrashers, yesterday Willard Heinrichs asked me as I was
leaving Walden if I had noticed the two thrushes south of Duck Pond?
He said they were probably Swainson’s Thrushes, but maybe Gray-cheeked
as they looked very gray. I thanked Willard and told him I would try
to see them today. I arrived about 1 pm and soon saw one of them
southwest of Duck Pond, then saw Willard and we observed these birds
and had a long discussion about whether they were Swainson’s or Gray-
cheeked. Fortunately I took a few pics. When I got home and zoomed in
I noticed two faint wing-bars, relatively long curved bill and pale
iris. For crying out loud, we’d been thrashed!
