Today at Rocky Mountain National Park I saw a flock of twenty or more Red Crossbills, maybe they are quite common but it's a first for me. Mountain chickadees and white-breasted nuthatches were in the same area with them, and some downy woodpeckers, I think I also saw a hairy woodpecker in Estes Park.
Photos of male, female and juvenile Crossbills (I think) are posted on my website at... http://www.billmeikle.com/component/option,com_joomgallery/func,viewcategory/catid,4/Itemid,12/ Bill Meikle Fort Collins -- www.billmeikle.com "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
