Hi Cobirders

Well it was another great day banding made exceptional by a beautiful male
Connecticut Warbler. It was seen until about 2 pm but not after. I would be
surprised if the bird stayed tonight but with some thunderstorms brewing to our
N and W it might stick around. The bird was very fat so it doesn't need to
stay to feed. This morning I realized quickly there was a major arrival of
thrushes, particularly Swainson's, many were singing all day. We banded 129
birds of 25 species. Also around today but much ignored was a pair of
Blackpoll Warblers, the male was singing. Early on I heard an Evening Grosbeak
calling. I think the big arrival was spurred on by the clear night from dusk
'til dawn. The first we have had here in 5-6 days. Hopefully we will have a
new batch of birds tomorrow with at least a couple lingerers.
