COBirders,

I birded around NE Colorado today where it was cool and overcast, where the
weather (but not the date) was perfect for migrants. I spent most of the day
exploring Tamarack Ranch. At the eastern end of the big windbreaks I ran
into a birder from CA and asked if he had anything interesting, to which he
replied, "Everything's interesting." Good point. He also told me he heard a
Black-billed Cuckoo a few hundred meters to the east. We heard it singing
somewhere off toward the river. He took off, and I waded out through
chest-high grass to try for a visual. About 30 minutes and 30 Wood Ticks
later, I heard it overhead, then got a good look as it flew back toward the
road: plain brownish-gray above, cream-white below, no rufous anywhere. I
heard it again from the road, but could not relocate it.

Good Birding
