Ted and Other Birders, While I'm sure there will be all sorts of heated ID discussions out on the Valmont dikes on Saturday, for now I feel the need to dispute one of Ted's calls immediately. According to the NWS, the forecast highs for Saturday are for near 48 degrees not 8 degrees!
However, that should not offset Ted's command to dress warmly. By the time those ID discussion heat up it will be late in the afternoon and the temperatures will have eased back to the degree that you will have all available clothing tightly wrapped around you. The outing will get under way at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the main entrance (off 63rd Street) to the Xcel/Valmont power plant.
