Hi birders, Raptors are generally increasing to the peak of migration in April. On Saturday 3/12, Ferruginous Hawks put on a good show as we observed 4 light morphs, and 2 dark morphs making concerted movements north, all were observed west of the Hawk Watch. Ferruginous Hawks observations peak in March on the ridge. We ended the day with 23 migrating raptors including 12 Red-tailed Hawks, and a Golden Eagle. Local Red-tailed Hawks, Golden Eagles, N. Goshawk, and Prairie Falcon continue to entertain. Migrant Mountain Bluebirds are peaking right now.
Spotters and visitors welcome. Thanks to Roger, Karen, Joe, and Jim for excellent work on the ridge Saturday. Saturday March 12 details: Observers: Jim Schmoker, Joe Lupfer, Karen Clark, Roger Rouch, Scott Severs Weather: Clear in the morning turning mostly cloudy in the afternoon. Breezy and cool.
