Hi birders,

Raptors are generally increasing to the peak of migration in April. On
Saturday 3/12, Ferruginous Hawks put on a good show as we observed 4
light morphs, and 2 dark morphs making concerted movements north, all
were observed west of the Hawk Watch. Ferruginous Hawks observations
peak in March on the ridge. We ended the day with 23 migrating raptors
including 12 Red-tailed Hawks, and a Golden Eagle. Local Red-tailed
Hawks, Golden Eagles, N. Goshawk, and Prairie Falcon continue to
entertain. Migrant Mountain Bluebirds are peaking right now.

Spotters and visitors welcome. Thanks to Roger, Karen, Joe, and Jim
for excellent work on the ridge Saturday.

Saturday March 12 details:

Observers: Jim Schmoker, Joe Lupfer, Karen Clark, Roger Rouch, Scott Severs

Weather: Clear in the morning turning mostly cloudy in the afternoon.
Breezy and cool. Winds generally from the SE increasing through the
day.

Non migratory raptors: About 8 local red-tailed hawks re-appearing
during the day. 3 local golden eagles soaring around Mt. Morrison. 1
northern goshawk. The day ended with a prairie falcon perched on "dead
pine" on the southern end of the ridge which flew northward and
disappeared below ridge just beyond the observation site. Not counted
as a migrator due to the short distance of sighting.

Non-raptor Notes: 3 western scrub-jay, several flights of mountain
bluebird to total about 50 birds, 3 house finch, 39 american crow, 2
northern flicker, 1 american robin, 3 black-billed magpie, 3 mountain
chickadee, 1 gray-headed junco, 15 common raven, 2 dark-eyed junco, 2
canada geese, 7 common merganser.

Visitors Alan Peryam and Sheila Debeats (sp?)
