Hello, Birders.

Maria Bertilsson and I visited a few Boulder County spots earlier this morning,
Thursday, April 7th.

Here's what we found:

Walden Ponds. 3 Wood Ducks, 2 singing Pied-billed Grebes, 1 handsome Horned
Grebe, 1 Turkey Vulture, 1 Bald Eagle, 1 spectacular Prairie Falcon flying
straight across Cottonwood Marsh, 2 Tree Swallows, 1 Barn Swallow, 1 Myrtle
Warbler by Boulder Creek, 2 furtive Lincoln's Sparrows in the shrubbery along
the west side of Cottonwood Marsh, 12+ Gambel's White-crowned Sparrows still
lingering near the sewer treatment plant, and 1 Brown-headed Cowbird.

Boulder Reservoir. 1 tardy Ross's Goose along the north shore of the reservoir,
2 Lesser Scaup, 1 hen Red-breasted Merganser, Ospreys back at 2 nest platforms,
3 American Avocets along the north shore, a fly-over Franklin's Gull, 1 Say's
Phoebe, 1 Barn Swallow, and a shriekingly vocal male Great-tailed Grackle near
the main entrance on the west side.

On the drive back to Lafayette, I stopped off at Prince Lake No. 2, which was
loaded with Ring-billed and Herring Gulls; mixed in with them were 15+
Franklin's Gulls and at least 4 Bonaparte's Gulls. Also a Greater Yellowlegs
and a Swainson's Hawk.
