Hi all,
I have followed CObirds as a reader for years and posted twice.
I saw this bird several times in Costa Rica last year.
AS I have read all the posts about natural arrival vs escaped I thought
about the reports from Red Rocks on the other Zonotrichia birds.
I am not a research expert on migration or other movement issues. Could
the other rarities migrate to a location where there are Rufous-collared
regularly and set up with them and in some way "convinced" a Rufous-collared
to
join it in a trip north.

We see mixed flocks often and when you have the other 4 but only one of
each at a place like Red Rocks does it seem impossible that the fifth could
have traveled up with others and then gone to Georgetown with maybe some
early White-crowned, for example.
Has any one seen any of the other Zonotrichia in the area in Georgetown?

Just another thought on how and why it could be a natural rather than an
escaped.
