Michael Kiessig and I spent a couple of hours birding in Bear Creek
Lake Park (BCLP) this morning. Not as birdy as yesterday - not near
as many sparrows and fewer warblers. Big find was FOS male singing
Bobolink - they usually migrate through the park this week (May 17
give or take a day or two).
Also were able to refind the Eastern Phoebe and Gray Flycatcher from
yesterday. We birded the area around Pelican Point. Exact locations:
Bobolink - sitting in the trees singing just north of the NE corner
of the dirt parking lot above Pelican Point.
Eastern Phoebe - found in the vicinity of the beginning of the Fitness
Course north of the pavilion.
Gray Flycatcher - on the north side of Turkey Creek near the
footbridge across Turkey Creek.
We then went to the west side of Marston Reservoir to look for the
Scissor-tailed Flycatcher - no luck. We were rewarded for our effort
by the presence of an Olive-sided Flycatcher.
