Cobirders, Sorry this is a day late. My son Bob and his wife Sondra came about 11:30AM to take me birding which they also have come to enjoy. Since the Snowy Owl not found earlier in Aurora I decide we go to Chatfield to look for the two Brant Geese . Not many land birds about but a lot of snow although roads were plowed we went to the model airfield . Here we ate our lunch watching toward the dumpster where a Magpie was hanging out . It dumpster dived many times
getting bites of something.

We then went to the Plum Creek parking lot. Bob and Sondra went thru the snow and the woods to Plum Creek but did not find the Brant only Mallards. ( I had gone on Dec. 11 and 14 when they were there but both times I could not go where
they were due to snow or steepness .

So we checked the point from the marina area which had 150 Canada Geese on land and about 60 Ringed-billed Gulls. There were at least 2 Herring Gulls. A small amount of open water at the point provided good looks at water fowl with the scope. There was one male Hooded Merganser and one No. Pintail male. Also widgeon, mallard and 5 coot.

At the junction of the upper road to Plum Cr. and main road up from the reservoir was a very large flock of Robins many in the road and in near by tree and later more came so that there were over a 150.

We went to the North Marina and parked where we could see the open water to the south. There were a number of male Common Goldeneyes, a raft of Common Mergansers as well as about Canada Geese. A few No. Grebes and W.Grebes.

While I was watching from the car a small bird flew around the lot in front of me to south , I noted some buffy color on its belly and then it landed to right and quickly flew up on the lowest branch of the large tree. Out toward the end. Bob and Sondra said it was a Say's Phoebe (they had a pair nesting in their yard two years). I noticed it waged its tail.

The Denver CBC had one this year on the 17th of December. The report did not tell which section.

A good two and a half hours seeing what could be found in winter land.
