Observed the Roadrunner along with about six other birders yesterday.
First saw it above the road almost at the top of the western side.
Decided to hike over the ridge and see if I could approach it from
above and get a bit closer for some shots. No sooner topped the ridge
and there it was. Got some pretty good shots which you can see on my
blog:http://birdsbybill.blogspot.com/2012/01/beep-beep.html

I observed it frequently pecking at the ground and around larger
rocks, but couldn't tell what it was after. I certainly didn't see
any insects on the ground. Also observed it doing some beak
sharpening activity on rocks, and it took a quick dust bath while i
observed, but it was behind some brush while it bathed. Probably
observed it for a good twenty minutes, before the sun went behind Mt.
Morrison.
