Hi, All --
With the front this weekend, the mess-‘o-migrants that hit the banding station
at Chico Basin Ranch on Saturday departed quickly, leaving few to catch on
Sunday. We banded 90 birds on Saturday, including the first-of-the-season
Veeries, Northern Waterthrush, Yellow-breasted Chats, Lazuli Buntings, an
Indigo/Lazuli Bunting hybrid, Mountain White-crowned Sparrow, and Bullock’s
Orioles. We banded only 17 on Sunday.
On Saturday we banded the fourth Long-eared Owl of the season. On both
Saturday and Sunday, we recaptured the second Worm-eating Warbler that was
banded on Thursday.
Total for the first three weeks of banding is 571 of 46 species.
