Rare, out-of-place and out-of-season species include:

EURASIAN WIGEON (Larimer)

*TUFTED DUCK *(*Larimer)

Dunlin (Kiowa)

Red-throated Loon (Adams)

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (Larimer, Yuma)

Winter Wren (Jefferson, Larimer)

Northern Mockingbird (*Larimer)

Chestnut-collared Longspur (Clear Creek)

Field Sparrow (El Paso)

Fox Sparrow (red) (Jefferson)



Gulls: Several gull species are being reported, primarily in Pueblo,
Larimer, Arapahoe, Kiowa and Adams Counties, e.g., Iceland (Thayer’s),
Glaucous, Bonaparte’s, and Lesser Black-backed Gull.

ADAMS COUNTY:

—On March 31 a Red-throated Loon was reported on the pond across the street
from Elaine T Valente Open Space on 104th. First reported March 15 by Peter
Ruprecht.



CLEAR CREEK COUNTY:

—On March 31 an out-of-range female Chestnut-collared Longspur was reported
on Guanella Pass by Tyler Stewart.



EL PASO COUNTY:

—-On March 31 the overwintering Field Sparrow continues at Red Rock Canyon
Open Space.



JEFFERSON COUNTY:

—-On March 31 the overwintering Winter Wren at Bear Creek Greenbelt
continues; it has been present since December 2018.

---On March 31 a Fox Sparrow (red) was reported at Waterton Canyon, near
the beginning of the main trail by Bez Bezuidenhout.



KIOWA COUNTY:

—-On March 31 (3) Dunlins were reported at Neenoshe Reservoir (SE corner);
first reported on March 24 by David Dowell.



LARIMER COUNTY:

—-A late report from March 29 was on eBird April 2, of a *TUFTED DUCK, *seen
in a pond on the south side of Cub Lake hiking trail in Rocky Mountain NP
by Alexander Koch. See my note to CObirds for details, please.

—-On April 2 a Northern Mockingbird (present since November, 2018) was
reported by Cheri Orwig in shrubs along Naomi Rd, SW of Boedecker Reservoir.

—-On March 31 a male EURASIAN WIGEON was reported in the Cobb Lake unit of
Wellington SWA (south pond) by Andy Bankert, later in same day reported in
center pond by Nick Komar and others. Since the original report, the bird
has been spotted as far as the north lake of the unit.

—-On March 31 an overwintering Winter Wren was reported at the Prospect
Ponds area.  First reported November of 2018.


—On March 30 a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was reported at Grandview Cemetery
near the golf course parking lot.  Two Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers  - 1(m)
and 1(f) were reported on March 8, about midway along the south edge of the
cemetery that abuts the golf course, by John Shenot.


YUMA COUNTY:

—-On April 1 a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was reported at the Wray Fish
Hatchery, foraging in the south end of the line of pines near the office.
First reported by Gregg Goodrich on March 23.
