My platform is the latest cvs checkout of cocoon (6pm PDT, May 31, 2001) and
Tomcat 4.0-b5. This runs on a RedHat 6.2 PC. I viewed the pages from IE5 on
a second PC. You might find my experiences (unfortunately as a newbie) with
the samples relevant.

I haven't been able to test all the samples, but here's what I observed from
the /cocoon/ page. The "Multimedia Hello World" section works as far as I
can tell (the VRML, VoxML, and WML may have hidden typos but the docs are
delivered). The PDF page appeared blank the first time I accessed it, but
subsequent page views from any browser were sucessful. I could duplicate
this (after clearing browser and server cache).

The "formatting objects" example had a formatting problem (eg, page 4 and 5)
where bullets for an items list appeared superimposed on the text.

I was unable to run "simple internationalization". It gives me a exception,
"Failed to execute pipeline.:org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Failed
to execute pipeline.:java.lang.NullPointerException". I had similar errors
with the sql examples, but I know the database stuff wasn't properly
configured. So this may mean that the "simple internationalization" example
isn't configured correctly (in sitemap?) either. The xsp analogue worked
fine.

Finally, I've skipped the SQL-related tests (aside from seeing what happens
when I break it :-), the python sample, and the "velocity generator" sample.

My apologies if these are well known. I didn't see these particular items
(with the possible exception of the "simple internationalization" problem
which seems familiar) in the FAQs or what I read of the mailing lists.
