Power Downloader usually enjoys getting email from his faithful flock, but
lately he's begun noticing a disturbing trend. Some of his correspondents
are sending a second, empty email message to him with an attachment called
"Happy99.exe." Thanks to the red flag he received from his antivirus
software the first time this happened, our cautious crusader was able to do
a little research before opening the mysterious file. Lo and behold, Power
discovered that he'd stumbled across one of the latest worms to crawl its
way across the Net.
The Happy99 file looks benign enough; launch it and you'll get a little
window with some animated fireworks. Neat--but once it's in your system,
Happy99 will send copies of itself to anyone you send an email to. Not a
nice way to treat your friends, eh? (Power found out a whole lot more about
the Happy99 worm right here.)

Here's where Happy99 Cleaner comes in. This 717K application won't protect
your system from the Happy99 worm. However, it can clean the pesky little
bugger from your PC. Just launch the program and hit the Clean Now button;
Happy99 Cleaner will then scan your hard drive for the worm and eliminate
it, just like that. It will also give you a list of everyone you've ticked
off by sending them infected email. There are no settings to tweak, no fancy
interfaces, and no progress bars in Happy99 Cleaner, but it's hard to argue
with a utility that does the job with no nonsense--and no price tag, to
boot.

universidad
