Again, spreadooo seems like a patent effort to re-locate the marketingI don't think that's the intention (note: I am not involved in the spreadooo thing, I have plenty to keep me busy). But I can see how one might feel like that. When I put myself in the shoes of the MP or the NLC, I can see how this would be a concern. Especially since there's a precedent. Some times people really have attempted forks.
project and a good chunk of the NLC off of OOo. Do people want that?
I do not.
On the other hand, not every project that uses something outside SourceCast is trying to fork. Lots of NL projects also maintain servers outside SC, and there are a few English sites too that are still part of the core OOo effort.
So... I guess I can see where each side is comming from. Perhaps everyone should step back for a bit. And try to see if there's a way to provide the OOo community with a new, useful tool, without a risk of forking it. If that can't be done, spreadooo is not worth doing. But I have hopes that it can be done. Maybe I'm too idealist.
Cheers, Daniel.
