Surely sendmail reeled when thusly spake Jarmo Lundgren: > > >a pamphlet for mom, with lots of screen shots, and a flyer for junior > >explaining how to pull down more redhat stuff from the net. > > How about one cdrom full of porn, warez and mp3's, with a manual titled > "This Is What Internet Is For" ? And of course the mp3's are all commie. and you forgot the anarchist bomb-making manuals. > >oh, and make sure there's a solitaire on the floopy & CD. I mean, > >Solitaire is an institution. > > Never understood, what's the point in playing a card game with a computer. well, what's the point of playing a card game with yourself ? > Then again, I've never understood sports video games, either. try to find 9 other players at 3 in the morning ! > A game about > a game? Why not making a computer game about a computer game, then? well, they make movies about moviemaking, don't they ? > >they already have _monkeys_ moving things by pure thought. > > > >did everyone see the story ? > > Nope. What? Where? I knew I shoulda posted it to dtm ! Speaking of Verhoeven, I guess this should be termed "RoboApe" ! http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci/tech/newsid_1025000/1025471.stm Scientists have used the brain signals from a monkey to drive a robotic arm. As the animal stuck out its hand to pick up some food off a tray, an artificial neural system linked into the animal's head mimicked the activity in the mechanical limb. In previous research, it has been shown that a rat wired into an artificial neural system can make a robotic water feeder move just by willing it. But the latest work sets new benchmarks because it shows how to process more neural information at a faster speed to produce more sophisticated robotic movements. That the system can be made to work using a primate is also an important proof of principle. f .................................
