Rajanarayanan Thottuvaikkatumana commented on CASSANDRA-7124:
-------------------------------------------------------------
[~thobbs] If we design a generic abstract Runner class, we may have to change
the existing repair class also a little bit. One more word of caution is that
at present "RepairRunner extends AbstractFuture<Boolean>". So the abstract
Runner class will have to be inheriting from AbstractFuture<Boolean> and all
the concrete classes (such as RepairRunner) for repair, cleanup etc will have
to be inheriting from the abstract Runner class. Hope that works. Thanks

> If {{nodetool cleanup}} or some other long-running operation takes too long
> to complete, you'll see an error like the one in CASSANDRA-2126, so you can't
> tell if the operation completed successfully or not. CASSANDRA-4767 fixed
> this for repairs with JMX notifications. We should do something similar for
> nodetool cleanup, compact, decommission, move, relocate, etc.
