Aleksey Yeschenko commented on CASSANDRA-8692:
----------------------------------------------
I agree with Sylvain's general minor release stability argument. That said,
this does seem like a significant enough improvement to argue for 2.1 inclusion
case, and I personally want it in 2.1.
Would it be possible to refactor the patch to make it optional in a way that
CASSANDRA-8086 is? Off by default, and not affecting the existing code paths
unless explicitly enabled?

> While researching CASSANDRA-8457 we found that it is effective and can be
> done without introducing additional latency at low concurrency/throughput.
> The patch from that was used and found to be useful in a real life scenario
> so I propose we implement this in 2.1 in addition to 3.0.
> The change set is a single file and is small enough to be reviewable.
