Right. I completely agree, but doing so is a really significant undertaking and
is basically what CASSANDRA-8986 is all about. Right now we do very simplistic
validation that still delivers value and catches some bugs, and this is
significantly more complex than the current validation, so it was a first step
to give us _something_ to test 8099 with, and help get ariel's test harness off
the ground. The intention is absolutely to overhaul this with more useful scope
and power.
