Mentioned on the PR for this ticket but I'll mention it here as well; I'm
already looking at updating the Go versions we test against to 1.22 and 1.23
for the 1.7.0 release

to make 1.7.0 as small as possible so I don't want to pull in any of the other
changes in the [working
PR|https://github.com/apache/cassandra-gocql-driver/pull/1812] for this ticket.
