Sorry for the noise, I'm still learning about Apache mirrors.
It seems they provide a redirection mechanism as in
[https://www.apache.org/dyn/mirrors/mirrors.cgi?action=download&filename=hadoop/common/hadoop-2.7.2/hadoop-2.7.2.tar.gz]
Anyway this will return a first mirror, that can fail.
Maybe going through the JSON route and selecting another mirror from the list
is more fiable than using the first mirror.
