OK, that make sense :) Functional safety is a requirement in some applications (most obviously automotive) to avoid critical faults that can cause fatal results (like a system error causing the user to die). From a dev's point of view, this often comes down to eliminating dynamic allocation during system runtime (so we never use free), or eliminating it completely (in the case of NuttX, only one option is possible).
