This problem was introduced in Hadoop-4348 when the following line that resets
ByteArrayOutputStream is accidentally removed:
{noformat}
- buf.reset();
{noformat}
This results in growth of byte[] in ByteArrayOutputStream (which doubles in
size every time it fills up).
