General comments/questions about LICENSE/NOTICE changes:
1) I'm not sure if it is discussed: I noticed HADOOP-13042 updated NOTICE.txt.
However, http://www.apache.org/dev/licensing-howto.html#mod-notice mentioned
that
bq. ... Aside from Apache-licensed dependencies which supply NOTICE files of
their own, it is uncommon for a dependency to require additions to NOTICE ...
And
bq. ... It is important to keep NOTICE as brief and simple as possible, as each
addition places a burden on downstream consumers. ...
Is there any guideline about when NOTICE has to be updated?
2) Filed a legal question LEGAL-247 about if we can merge dependencies which
have same license. LICENSE.txt can be simplified a lot if the merging is
allowed.
