Sorry, I was trying to ask if we needed upstream changes, if we could just
apply them here. Either way, whatever's simplest to maintain/test.

because in the long run OSS SDK has the freedom to use its own version of
httpclient library, not worrying about conflict with outside or elsewhere.
Got it. Until Java9 that may be easier, particularly if the SDK uses more
recent versions of Hadoop dependencies.
