"Wearing my hat of application developer on top of Hadoop" I'd rather see the
wrinkles ironed out as early as possible. The reason is: it is enough of PITA
to deal with all the changes in serialization layer in the matter of transit to
HDFS2. Getting back to it in 3.x when an incompatible changes will be
introduced again - I don't think this is the message Hadoop community needs to
be sending around.
"Wearing my Apache hat": it won't be real fair to punish Hadoop consumers, just
because Cloudera was too eager to come ahead with the CDH version based on an
"alpha" version of ASF Hadoop.
