That is fine (util still existing), I just don't want to see util become some wayward utility dumping ground. I would like to see a definite taxonomy take shape, so it seems as if the java related mapping is a good one.
I like that we 'corrected' the java mistake of Collections just getting thrown into java.util. That was not such a good move. I just don't want to see us doing the same thing.
