So, it's not always a code problem, is it?  Perhaps this is case here.  The 
word from one of our ftp experts: "ftp reads only from terminal input as 
security feature... need to use .netrc and .rhosts files in Unix home directory 
with access via chmod only for the user...".  Is this type of thing possible 
only from a unix shell script, or can this be accomplished by the Commons Net 
library also?  (I know the info is a little fuzzy...)   Steve
