My only question is why the NomCom needs to be at the meetings at all.

Do we not live in a connected world – where email, video conferencing, voice
conferencing and other technologies are available to us?

I point out that RIPE does not even fund its PDP co-chairs to meetings –
because decisions are made on the list.

We have this bizarre idea that flying people all over the place is a good idea
– personally – I think it’s a waste of time and members money – for goodness
sake – we are here to promote the internet but can’t seem to figure out how to
use it ourselves to cut our own costs?

Noah,

So its pointless to have a nomcom in other-words

It may not be pointless to have a nomcom but they certainly can run better
elections.

AfriNIC will be wasting members money to conduct elections which involves
facilitating members of nomcom to fly to meetings to conduct elections where no
candidate is elected.

Yes one of the ways that Afrinic wastes lots of money flying people around.
This contributes to why our fees are so high compared to other RIRs we are in.

All,
