I differed with the rendition that Stefano put forward. And I differ with the new rendition he has now put forward.
Duncan immediately had respect as an equal. He did not need to re-earn it, he was immediately granted it. He had an immediate right to a vote.
However, and this is an important point, his ability to influence was limited only by his ability to persuade others. I said as much then:
