When traveling, you should either use SMTP AUTH, SSH tunneling, or find out
the name of the locally provided mail server.
I use SSH tunneling. Amongst other things, SSH is more secure than SMTP
AUTH *and* it hides my POP3 information.

Sure. Mind you, since much spam originates from such pools, you'll still
have to go through a lot of spam, or just accept that DHCP pools are
spammers, and delete them yourself.
