Dear all, i have the pleasure of announcing that the mobile Matterhorn application (Matterhorn2Go) is finally availabel in the Android market [1]. We´ve fixed many bugs, design and usability issues since the release of the first test versions. Thanks for testing and your bug reports! iTool users please be patient - we are pretty close to also release the application to the Apple store soon.
How does it work? 1.) Installation: Go to the Android Market and search for Opencast (or use the direct link [1]). Download and install. Requires Android version 2.2 or higher. 2.) Adding your Matterhorn instance to the app: The app is initially pointing at publicy availabe Matterhorn recordings from the University of Osnabrück (+ our Matterhorn project demo server). Users of the application can simply switch to a different Matterhorn installation (your instance) in the software settings -> if the instance has been announced ;) Announcing can be done by simply adding your installations search endpoint (url to your videos) to the Opencast adopters database. After this entry students can use the app and also watch your universities recordings on their devices. To announce your installation, simply write an email to Rüdiger Rolf [2], include your url and your recordings will be also available in the application. 3.) Source code + licence Code is available in our contrib section: http://opencast.jira.com/svn/MH/contrib/matterhorn2go Licence: LGPL 4.) iPhone/iPad and the Apple Store We are currently making sure to inlcude all of Apple´s recommendations regarding the review guidelines to finally also release the app in the Apple store. There are still some open questions to answer like network connectivity (warranted audio/video quaility settings) and Apple´s http live streaming implementation. --- Please let us know what you think. As always - praise and reprimand is welcome!
