Here is what a friend just told me:
----
The problem with the older PowerMacs is that Apple has
terminated them completely... parts are going to become harder to find,
too. I can't recommend any of those machines as a good investment- Apple
is doing everything possible to force early obscolescence on them.

Hence the fact that OSX won't run on them, even though the
machines ARE capable of running it from a technical standpoint. Apple
wants to sell more hardware.

Sonnet's released software patches for OSX that let OSX run
on older machines like the 7600, but it's a nasty kludge, and nobody can
guarantee the compatibility or long-term viability of that option- I can
tell you that FreeBSD (the kernel in OSX) doesn't well handle base-drivers
inserted as modules.

On the other hand, if you want to go the UNIX (Linux) route,
then a Powermac 7600 (or a G3 CC) isn't bad at all!
----

Does anyone know what the 2nd to last paragraph means? And would this
Sonnet software allow OSX to run on a G3 Color Classic?
