Depends greatly on the individual machine, as Marten noted. If you have
one of the reed fans instead of one of the standard bladed fans, though,
that could be part of it. There was a sort-of recall on these back in '87
when people started complaining about how loud they were. Apple replaced
the reed fans with the more normal units and noise complaints stopped.

Best Mac to use for that would be a Q605 with that little 20W power supply.
The Compacts are all around 100W or so IIRC, but I have no idea about
real-world figures. The figures I (and most others) are most familiar with
are the rated power consumption figures, which probably don't mean a whole
lot.

The CRT cannot be turned off, and indeed, doing so would probably be
dangerous in that it would underload the power supply. You can, however,
turn the brightness all the way down, which effectively does the same
thing. Brightness control knob is under the left front of the screen.

I think the original reason for staying away from bleach was not only
strength concerns but also the fact that it's liquid and harder to deal
with than gel. If it works for you, great!

Some do but some don't. Most that do use a smaller connector than the
original one so you'd have to do some soldering or find a smaller connector.

Try MacGyver's Mac Page (google search). Chris has some good stuff there.

No.

...and which won't work unless you have an SE/30, which you currently don't
if I read the message correctly :)
