Most of the pain comes from jumping back in shock, falling over the 
cat/dog/pile of SE/30 spares/Mac/scanner/toolbox/chair (delete as 
appropriate) behind you and banging you head on the floor ;). That mist 
be why the lead that drains the excess charge from the screen is called 
a 'fly-back' lead :).
