> Greg - ...the maximum amount of RAM a Mac SE/30 can handle? ...Does this auction look like RAM an SE/30
Yes, the SE/30 "handles" 128MB of RAM just fine. You will need the control panel "Mode 32" to use this RAM, available from the Apple FTP site. Alternatively, you can pick up a IIfx (or a IIsi) ROM SIMM on eBay (they're commonly available) which will also do the same trick as Mode 32. (If there's a difference in effect between using the control panel applet vs. replacing the ROM SIMM, I don't know what it is: perhaps someone else might know if there's some reason to prefer one over the other? It's certainly convenient to replace the hardware, especially if you're going in there with additional RAM anyways.) I've purchased RAM recently from the eBay seller sunguk, from an earlier Dutch auction similar to this ad (he runs these quite often of late), and he delivered it promptly, within days after my payment; and at $15 per 64MB, it was a bargain ...and he will combine s/h charges, which is generous, considering some eBay purchases I've made. I'd add that I've previously made purchases from him (memory, and hard drives), and found him to be prompt & professional on those occasions, too. ------- Brandon -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
