Guess what. I have recounted and they are definitely 60 pins. The 
mystery deepens...

Made a mistake with the number I have though, I only have 6 not 8 of 
them (the other pack had 72 pins sims in it)

Looking closely at the numbers on the chips, I notice that 4 of them 
have exactly the same numbers on all chips - perhaps this is a batch 
number and these are a set? the other two are identical except for the 
numbers.

4 of them have 9652 on all chips - 1 has 9650 and 1 has 9706 - otherwise 
the same ie.

9650 D USA
