Found the info for the HD on the Seagate web site:
http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/scsi/cp30080e.html
It's 85MB, 3800 rpm, 17 ms seek time.
All sorts of good Conner info available through:
http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/specs/family_conner.html
Now, can I use the box as a single-switch power controller or do I need
to have the SCSI devices powered up and active before I start the main box?

No matter how paranoid you are, it isn't paranoid enough.
