That's right, Oliver is my Mac Classic, a rejuvenation-in-progress. ;-)
When I get done, I hope to have him hooked up through my home LAN to the
Internet and also to have him AppleTalking to his sibling(s) and a
StyleWriter II. He'll have a Mirror under-box external (80M) hard drive, an
Apple CD 300e+, an Apple external 800k floppy, and an Asante Mini/Desktop
EN-SC. "Truly, a state-of-the-art machine."
For those who may have missed my previous link reference, point your
browsers at:
http://www-i5.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/mbp/bloom/bloom.html
for some informative material about Oliver Wendell Jones (my Mac's
namesake) and his Banana Junior 6000 Self-portable Personal Computer System.
Right now Oliver is tucked in, all warm and snuggly, next to the firewall,
waiting for the peripherals to arrive with some new device drivers to
integrate.
Oliver's younger sibling is a Mac SE that I rescued from under the dust on
a high shelf in a local school's computer lab; it is still be nursed back
to health. Oliver may acquire another sibling, a Mac Classic II, if it
doesn't find other adoptive parents at a yard sale this weekend.
I tend to anthropomorphize my systems, a symmetrical response to my
self-mapping into the Other Plane. And, of course, to truly control
something, you need to know its True Name, hence my need to discover the
names of my systems. Suggestions are welcome.
