I'm trying to create a bootable zip disk. The first thing I tried to do was install system six on it via a perfoma on which I've replaced the Iomega Driver with version 4.2. When I try to boot the plus using that, it accepts it as a bootable disk and displays the "welcome to macintosh" screen (which suggests that the driver it was made under isn't the problem) but afterwards says "The 'System file on this startup disk may be damaged. The Installer can be used to repair this disk." and has a restart button. Attempting to do that on the performa makes no difference.
Then I tried to make a boot floppy for the plus that includes the zip driver, so that I could mount the zip disk and try installing system 6 onto it from the plus. I created a floppy with system software and enough space for the driver. It booted fine. Then I put it in the performa and added the iomega driver to the system folder. Now when I try to boot the plus from that floppy, the blinking question mark blinks a large X a time or two and the disk ejects. Does anyone know what could be causing these problems and/or what I can do about them? Thanks, Cayenne -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
