No, I really don't need 4 gigs. I don't need one gig. 40 MB would be
fine, but I'm mainly interested in reliability of the HD, not size.
Since I have a 4.26 GB drive lying around, why not use it? It's cheaper
to use hardware I already own than it is to buy new hardware that's
better suited to the SE. But I think I'll just check out the swap list
and pick up a $5-$10 hard drive, somewhere in the 100-300 MB range. That
4.26 GB drive is being used to store my music, so when I get a newer
main computer with a larger internal drive, I won't need that extra one.

And I fully see your point about not using 7.5. My brother's Quadra 950
runs well on it, but it's a 33 MHz 68040 with over 90 MB of RAM. No way
this SE could do that. I think I'll either put system 7 on it with a
system 6 startup disk in case I want to use it (I also have 6.0.5
install disks lying around), or I'll put both on the hard drive and use
a utility to switch between them. They're both free, why not try both?
