Speedometer will benchmark it quite nicely. RAM testing can be performed by NewerTech's RAMometer, though I haven't a clue how thorough it is. Google might find it. >I'd really like to be able to perform some sort of standard speed test to >quantify what improvements, if any, are made by changing system configurations >(ie OS choice, HD size, amount of memory, disk cache, and virtual memory Nothing can benchmark OS speed very well other than a stopwatch. HD size is a horrible thing to try to benchmark because there's so much variation in speed from one model of hard disk to another. Disk cache only affects HD access speed, but it's easy to test. Amount of installed RAM very rarely affects any performance benchmarks but more will allow you to turn off VM, which is a HUGE performance drain. >Also I have a M1025 mono monitor hooked up to my LC475 (with full FPU :-). Service manual should be linked in the FAQ; the software I'd most recommend is Larry Pina's Test Pattern Generator. Google around for that and if you can't find it, check my Archive too - there might be a copy in there.
