I thought getting the main part of Taco (G3 in CC) project working would be easy, before moving on to the LCD stuff. Wrong! Having got 9.1 loaded on the HD, I tried to install Mac OS X. First with external SCSI drive - noy joy. The knowledge base says that X is fussier than 9 about SCSI devices. Hmm. Next attempt: IDE CD-ROM - as master on 2nd IDE channel, given the beige G3 slave issues! Various attempts fail. Then boot with 9 to see what it makes of the X install CDs. It seems that 9 will recognise every odd CD I have lying around OK, but all 3 X install CDs it rejects as unreadable! I can't see that it's a media issue (Teac slim-line CD ROM drive from laptop, FWIW), but there's something about the Mac OS X system CDs that it doesn't like. Any ideas? Are there any replacement CDROM drivers that I could try with 9? Help! Stuart
