Try the "Free trial Download" of  CD/DVD Speed Tools from

<http://www.intechusa.com/>

It's the full version of there CD Drivers that is good for 15? restarts IIRC.
This CD driver has worked on every Player-Burner-ReWriter
I have ever thrown it at!

Doing an unsupported install on my 8500 rewuired however that I have
an Apple Romed CD before it would work correctly.
X seems to be _very_ picky when it does it's hardware checks.
