This is debatable. Saul Brody came out to San Francisco last year and we upgraded his Outbound. We took out the stock drive and popped a 2gb drive in. It was recognized... no problem. I then added 4 4mb Simms to it and it seemed to take those fine as well. I reported this to Tom at Applefritter, and he requested pics. Saul had left for Philly already so I could net get photo's and he has no digital camera or means of scanning a print photo. All I can say is that I have done it. I am more than willing to mess with mine if anyone wants to send me a 2gb HD and Simms. I am preparing for a move around x-mas, and have sold most of my non collectible Mac stuff to slim down. > And finally, have you found any "community" of 125 owners? Not many of us *have* Outbounds. Saul Brody, Ken Santucci (semi-functional) and myself are the only others that have them on this list AFAIK (besides yourself).>> Yes, I do have a 68030 Outbound 2030E *notebook*(not "laptop", which is different). IIRC, it shows 14mb RAM, and if you subtract what system 7.1 is using, it should come to about 11mb unused, but it's showing 9mb as largest unused block(somehow it loses 3mb!). I don't remember adding RAM when I was visiting Kyle, just cleaning the contacts. We did indeed put in a 2gb IDE HD and it worked fine. I love it, although it is not my primary road machine anymore. Very fast for its age, does e-mail fine with AOL v.2.7(with external modem), has DB-25 SCSI port, uses old-style readily available lead-acid camcorder battery. You occasionally see one on eBay, but they go for quite high prices as collectors' items. As I say, this is *not* the laptop, but the notebook, which are somewhat different(the laptop has detachable keyboard IIRC).
