You can usually tell it from the folder icon showing (or not) the Mac OS logo (or the Happy Mac in former System versions). If it's not, the Mac will not boot from it.
What Mac are you using it for? Same as before? Are you sure, otherwise, that you did not change anything else? Partition size? Termination? SCSI ID conflicts? Just wild guesses, but there is no "there is no..." in SCSI wonderland. Keep us posted.
